As our planet becomes more vulnerable to climate change and disasters, we need a new way of thinking about risk and how to factor it into the development process. The 2030 Agenda makes a significant commitment to hardwire disaster and climate risk into all levels of development. There are 25 targets related to disaster risk reduction in 10 of the 17 sustainable development goals, firmly establishing the role of disaster risk reduction as a core development strategy. Disaster affects everyone; therefore, disaster management is everyone’s business. It is a multi-facet task and needs more comprehensive and multilayered approach.
