The social dimension of sustainable development is concerned primarily with poverty reduction, social investment and the building of safe and caring communities. Finding solutions to national social development issues thus requires a highly trained, inter-disciplinary workforce. ECASA Social Development and Protection Cluster being a multi-disciplinary and multi-country team presents a good opportunity to address the barriers and maximize on the drivers of social development such as the equity and inclusion, widening inequalities and unemployment in the ECASA region.
Social Development, Education, Gender and Protection Services
Specifically, the Cluster focuses on providing technical support services in gender policy development, economics of gender, gender and environment, gender and education, gender and human rights, gender and women’s health, gender and education, gender and HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) as well as sexual and gender-based violence and other types of exploitation, development of pro-poor and gender-sensitive social protection policies and programs, financial services including microfinance to support investment in poverty eradication actions, domestic technology development research and innovation.
